An important comprehension skill for developing readers is to retell a story after reading. Last week, the first graders built a retell map or graphic organizer to help them retell the story of the Itsy Bitsy Spider. We discussed that a good retell states the characters, setting, and problem. It is also important to include story events with details and the story's conclusion. Listen to this great retell. Ask your child to show you their poster and retell the story.
